My name is Em, and I am a fibrephile,
crafty jack-of-all-trades, video game geek, and knitting addict. When
I am not dyeing, knitting, spinning, sewing, or designing, I am an
at-home parent to my three year old daughter.
I am an avid crafter of many varieties
- I began dyeing yarn to feed my knitting habit, and fibre to fuel my
spinning wheels. I weave, sew, embroider, and occasionally crochet as
well - if it's tactile and colourful, I'm all over it! I adore
natural fibres, particularly wool in all its forms.
Everything Old is the outlet for my
creativity and passion for all textile arts. I work from my home in
beautiful Victoria, BC, where my kitchen and dining room have become
my studio. I love colour and texture, and I like to take a hands-on,
painterly approach to my dyeing (this most often results in dyed
fingers and counter tops!). I aim to take a slightly wild approach to
colour while producing the highest quality materials. My education
spans both art history and fashion design, and I like to bring a
sense of both into my work. I love the way the ancient crafts of
knitting, spinning, and weaving are evolving to inspire new
generations. I hope my love for colour and high quality supplies feeds your habit too.
